Jack O. Johnson, AMFT

For the last few years, I have had the privilege of working with individuals diagnosed with severe mental illness and persistent emotional disturbance within the residential setting. This time allowed me to cultivate skills such as conflict resolution, crisis management and skill building as well as continuing to strengthen skills like listening, patience, and the development of a working alliance. I have also had the extreme pleasure of volunteering in other non-profit areas working with children and adolescents where I can teach life skills through fun activities and games. I believe that my personal and professional experiences have allowed me to develop a solid belief and understanding that meaningful psychotherapy centered around trust, honesty, and a shared understanding of goals can truly change oneself and the life one wants to lead.

My goal for psychotherapy is to create an environment in which we are working towards a better understanding of yourself and your world in order to lead a more meaningful, freeing, and authentic life. Ultimately, I believe in the unique and complex nature of every individual and therefore believe that diving into the depths of who you are is where true growth occurs.

In my personal time I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, playing sports, and reading. I also enjoy spoiling my dog, binging the endless amounts of movies and tv shows that exist, and losing to my wife at board games.

I am currently under the supervision of Susan Soderman, LMFT #98962.
