Emily Adams, AMFT
Are you feeling stuck in a situation or a circumstance that is keeping you from living a whole and healthy life? Whether it was something recent, something that happened a short while ago, or something you have carried your whole life, you keep thinking about this thing or feeling it in your body. It is impacting your daily life, keeping you trapped in old patterns that are no longer serving you, and you would like to heal that part of you and move forward. By being here on this page, you have already taken a step in your healing journey. How about taking one more brave step to reach out and begin a conversation with me? I am a kind, caring, and genuine person who wants to listen and connect with you as an individual. Throughout the therapy process, I will do my best to support you and help you feel comfortable and understood. As a therapist, I have worked in private practice, non-profit agency, and hospital settings, and I have experience working with individuals, couples, and groups. My specialties include anxiety, grief and loss, trauma across the lifespan, relational struggles, as well as physical and mental illness; and my hope is to help you better understand how your current challenges relate to your life experiences.
In addition to my clinical experience, I care deeply about expanding my knowledge and continuing my education in order to become the most competent therapist I can be. Currently, I am Gottman Method Couples Therapy (Level 1) Certified, and I have done advanced training and research on the topic of suicidality (particularly in adolescents). In my current practice, I am supervised by Susan Soderman (LMFT #98962).
Outside of my work as a therapist, I enjoy being in nature, and I especially love hiking and exploring National Parks. I also enjoy cooking and baking, and I thoroughly enjoy a good cup of coffee. Traveling is very important to me, as I love learning new things about people and places; and everywhere I travel, I love to find a good bookstore. I am grateful to have my husband and my dog as my adventure companions.
